Punching Until Knuckle Swollen

Carcassonne and Pic de Nore

Carcassonne is a first rate tourist destination. For the Catalan is a great opportunity to escape to France and see a magnificent medieval town is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Perfect destination to go with children.
But if you like cycling is also a destination where you can enjoy a full output of incentives. First, for lovers of the unique climbing, the Pic de Nore is a climb that we can not avoid.
From La Cité, the medieval city is clearly visible with the Pic de Nore huge antenna (at Ventoux, heh) on top. And a wind farm on its slopes that view one understands the visual pollution.

With different access possibilities, including that of Mazamet, the birthplace of Laurent Jalabert, the most interesting aspect of the Pic de Nore is that of Villeneuve Minervois, which consists of 21 miles is not too hard. This aspect is the one crossing Cabrespine (the people we serve as a reference to go ascenciendo from Carcassonne), but do not have to detour to the famous cave of Cabrespine, with a very, very hard mile (road sign 16%) that did not have to be done ...

is totally recommended to complete the journey down towards Mazamet and then diverted towards Lastours, a set of four Cathar castles, strongly recommended to visit, but for that we get off the bike and walk for about an hour and a half.
Finally note that the cyclist Laurent Jalabert march held from Mazamet (this year on August 23) is a good opportunity to get to the Pic de Nore.
